A $50 Salary Raise for HSWs in Singapore

_70082100_de51Starting January, Filipino household service workers (HSWs) in Singapore will received a monthly salary increase of SGD$50.

The increase was made when Singaporean agencies agreed after the Association of Employment Agencies Singapore (AEAS) come to an agreement with the Philippine Embassy three years ago to avoid exchange rate fluctuations.

A minimum wage of $400 was set by the Philippine government for domestic helpers.

The Philippine Embassy estimates that about 70,000 of the 227,100 domestic helpers in Singapore are Filipinos.
